What kind of clothes are popular in our thrift shop?

Seasons change, and trends wax and wane, but some things never go out of style. Our favorite collections in our thrift shop are our jeans and knitwear, and they're yours, too.

They're comfy, stylish, and in some form, they're always trending.

The vintage stuff is even better. It was made in an era when clothes were meant to last years, so this kind of denim is durable. We love it when they look a little worn in and aged. Like they might have been worn to wrangle some horses or fix a few cars in the 50s.

But there’s nothing better than a nostalgic knit: a handmade 70s sweater or an ironically oversized 90s vest. You don’t have to worry about the perfect fit or if they match your other stuff. There’s chaos in crazy knits, and that’s what makes them perfect. Who needs a bland, mass-produced jumper when we can all wear grandma’s knitted sweater.

Before you head to our thrift shop, here are our top tips for finding your next best outfit

 

#1 Shopping online? Find your size

• Vintage sizing is all over the place. But online, our clothes are measured and compared to their modern EU size.
• Take your chest, waist, and hip measurements and compare them with our sizing chart.
• If it’s a non-stretch fabric (like cotton or polyester, without any elastane or spandex), consider sizing up. Modern clothes are usually stretch blends, so some vintage fabrics don’t have as much freedom of movement.

 

#2 Find a decade or style you love

• Browse Pinterest for fashion boards and vintage styles. Create a mood board of what you're drawn to most.
• Your trained eye will help you hone in on your next find.

 

#3 Know your brands

• Find out the popular vintage brands from the era or style you’re into.
• You can filter our clothes by brand, so you can target the look you’re after.

 

#4 Check out our Instagram

• We post the clothes we actually sell in our thrift shop.
