Y2K clothing brings you the bangin’ aesthetic from early 2000s fashion.
Because being casual was so last millennium.
Y2K fashion trends
Y2K clothing was small, tight, and blinged out. It was the era of the miniest of skirts, tiniest of tops, and baring your midriff, for any occasion. The 2000s style was like the 60s and 70s got bit by the millennium bug for a glittery, cyber revival.
Decked out in denim
Jeans in the 2000s were as low-waisted as they could get. In dark washes with flared ankles (but we called them bootcut this time). Y2K jeans were fashionably distressed and decorated in diamante embellishments.
But it didn’t end there for denim. Y2K denim skirts were super short, pleated, or pinstriped. The tinier, the better. Paired with your fitted (denim, of course) blazer and Ugg boots for a totally fly fit.
Bubblegum pop style
Y2K clothing was all about embracing the feminine and girly, like your fav pop star. Clothing was pink and fluffy, with glitter and velour. Butterfly icons on everything, and satin slips with cropped shrug cardigans.
Jeans and a nice top were considered peak clubwear in Y2K fashion. Halter tops blinged out in rhinestones and diamante could make any denim look fancy enough for a red carpet.
Men’s Y2K clothes
Men’s 00s style was inspired by boybands, hip hop, and surfing. Even if you’d never seen a beach. Pop the collar on your polo shirt. Pair it with cargo pants or baggy jeans and a bucket hat. Chuck on a zip-up hoody or striped shirt to top it off.
Logos were king on Y2K clothing; the more, the better. From brands like Diesel, Puma, and Nike. A splash of designer with Burberry tartan would give your Y2K fit the edge.
Or you could sport a graphic tee with a tongue-in-cheek phrase to let people know you’re just a little dramatic.
